Consider a Business Coach or Mentor

Whether you’re feeling stuck or just went into hyper growth mode, you may want to consider hiring a business coach.

Even a coach needs a coach. I bet you haven’t ever seen one professional athlete that doesn’t have a coach, have you?  Yet, when you watch that player play their sport, you think they are the best, they have practiced days on end, they have worked hard to become an athlete, they really know what they are doing.  Even these professional athletes have coaches and they are already the best in their “businesses”!  One of the secret weapons of almost every billionaire CEO is that they had a coach.  Oprah Winfrey, Bill Clinton, and even Barack Obama have all reported using coaches on a regular basis to advance in their careers (Richards).  I have seen many business owners drastically benefit from having a coach.

If your “stuck” and looking for a way to get to the next level, you may want to consider hiring a business coach for your business.  A coach can help you see what you can’t see, maybe you have a blind spot?  Coaches provide an outsider’s perspective on you and your business and help you develop some accountability.  As business owners, we often think we know how to do everything.  After all, we are a jack of all trades, right?  I mean, I can answer the phone, do the filing, make a sale, do my accounting, and lead my team.  Take that Zuckerberg!  The problem isn’t that we cannot do everything, it’s that we shouldn’t.  Get a coach to help you get focused on what you do best.

Here are a few questions you may want to consider.

  • Do you understand my business model and industry?
  • Do you think you can help me?
  • What one thing is glaring at you saying we’re doing something wrong?
  • How do you think I can achieve these goals/objectives?
  • What technology and tools do you think would increase productivity?
  • Do you know any other people who may be able to provide insight?
  • What can you tell me to help me “think outside the box”?
  • Can you help me define personal and business success?
